Judge Bill Adams

William P. “Bill” Adams was admitted to the Georgia Bar in 1977 after graduating cum laude from the Mercer Law School. He spent almost 8 years as a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Georgia and over 12 years in the general practice of law at Adams, Hemingway, & Hemingway, later Adams, Hemingway & Wilson. His private practice included the handling of a wide variety of civil cases for plaintiffs and defendants, as well as some criminal cases. During his time in private practice, Adams registered as a mediator and arbitrator in 1994. He was also approved to handle mediation and arbitration for the United States District Court in the Middle District of Georgia. He was one of the first mediators to join with South Georgia Mediation Service.

Adams mediated and arbitrated a wide variety of disputes through 1998 when he was elected as Judge of the State Court of Bibb County. As Judge, he presided over substantial civil disputes including medical malpractice cases and products liability cases. He retired from the bench in June 2017 to join his son Brian’s law firm, Adams Law Firm, as Of Counsel. Shortly thereafter, he went through the training at Henning Mediation and Arbitration Service to again become a registered mediator and arbitrator. He brings a wide range of experience and perspective to bear in assisting parties with the resolution of their disputes.
